Marvin joined the firm in 1999 and is partner in charge of Smith & Howard’s Accounting & Advisory group. He leads our C-Suite Services group and is a member of our Construction team. Marvin has extensive experience in accounting, auditing, information systems, business management and consulting for construction companies. He is a frequent speaker at Smith & Howard construction seminars as well as at seminars for members of the Associated General Contractor of Georgia.
Prior to joining Smith & Howard, Marvin spent several years as CFO of a large business. This background as CFO and his financial knowledge provide tremendous value to our construction clients in the areas of internal control reviews, technology services, financial due diligence, general business advice and accounting. He leads our Red Flag Reporting services, the 24/7 ethics and fraud hotline and related training program that Smith & Howard offers clients.
Marvin received his BBA in accounting from Georgia State University. Marvin is an active member of the Associated General Contractors, and serves on the National Editorial Board of The Contractor, a newsletter for construction business executives. He is a member of the AICPA and GSCPA, the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce where he serves on the Board of Directors and is a member of the Chairman's Club. Marvin is an alumnus of Leadership Gwinnett.
Marvin is a Certified Information Technology Professional. This AICPA designation certifies that Marvin is recognized for his unique, multi-disciplinary perspective, his technology expertise and his ability to bridge the gap between business and technology. He is also a Charted Global Management Accountant, a certification that demonstrates his management expertise, determination and commitment to achieving sustainable business success.
